About Us

We are a small family-owned artisanal honey producer located in East Aurora, at the western edge of New York State.  Western New York has a unique microclimate which is influenced by its proximity to the shores of Lake Erie.  Because of the lake effect moisture and the lake’s moderating effect on temperatures, this area is buffered from the effects of severe droughts.  Over 60 percent of the land surrounding our bees is forested, which provides access to floral sources of black locust, maple, basswood, tulip poplar, honey locust, and willow, to name a few.  The remaining 40 percent is primarily pastoral, made up of other small farms and meadows of land reverting back to forest, which contains a wide array of wild flowers.  It’s this mix of diverse flower sources that allows us to produce such special flavors of our two main honey types, our summer honey and fall honey.

Mission Statement

Gentle Bee Honey is committed to producing the healthiest and highest quality honey. We keep our bees on sites that have maximal access to open and forested lands, while minimizing exposure to land that is in conventional agriculture. Within the hive, we rely on natural remedies and use no chemical treatments. This leads to healthy, resilient bees and wholesome honey for consumers of our products.
